About

I am your average geek who is irrationally exuberant about technology, especially if it has anything to do with the Internet. I am an entrepreneur currently working on my fourth startup — DotNetNuke Corp. — a company I co-founded and which got venture funding in Nov. 2008. I am a creative tinkerer perpetually interested in looking around the corner and figuring out new and interesting ways to make the world a better place.

You can contact me at nik (at) kalyani.com or call me on my mobile at +1.202.HOT.LINE

While I am an experienced web developer, I also find the business strategy and marketing aspects of a software company to be as exciting as writing code. When I do work on software, my primary expertise is in creating products with compelling user experiences. I am most proficient with Microsoft technologies, but have no religious fanaticism about them. I am a proponent of Open Source, fan of Media Center, student of social media and lover of minimalist design. I also like to design logos; the current DotNetNuke logo is an example. I like to tinker with computer and A/V hardware and proudly practice McGyverism.

I was born and raised in Bombay, India, a city that is dear to my heart. I came to the U.S. for a bachelor’s degree and stayed on to become a citizen. Someday, I hope to run for Congress. I live in Mountain View, California with my beautiful, kind and charming wife Savitha and our daughters Gia and Kaamya. We are relatively new to Silicon Valley, having moved here in Nov. 2007 from Washington, D.C. (which we miss very much).

That about covers it. I suspect you have not yet subscribed to my blog feed, followed me on Twitter and friended me on Facebook. Could you please do so without further delay using the icons conveniently provided for this purpose at the top of this page. It will be a major ego boost for me to know that you took some of your valuable time to connect with me. I do appreciate it very much.

Thank you for visiting.
